Margaret Dyer 3 Day Workshop Description:

THE FIGURE IN PASTELS
Students are taught a traditional pastel painting technique. Working with a live model, students will explore drawing, composition, anatomy, proportion, value, color and pastel application. Emphasis will be on developing form using light and shadow, using Margaret’s easy step-by-step method.

About the Artist:
Margaret has lived in Atlanta, GA, since her family moved from New York in 1960. She attended the Atlanta College of Art at the High Museum of Art and furthered her studies under painters Roman Chatov, Kate Fetterolf and Jim Richards. A Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America, in the Masters Circle of the International Association of Pastel Societies, and an award-winner in the American Impressionist Society, Margaret has been featured in American Artist, The Artist’s Magazine, International Artist and The Pastel Journal. She has made her living for over 25 years selling her work and teaching.

Artist Statement:
”At a moment in 1970, when a model dropped her robe and stood naked in front of a class of wide-eyed eighteen year old art students, I found something in life I loved – the challenge to draw the living, breathing, continuously moving landscape of the human body. What started out as a challenge quickly became a passion. Ten years later, when I happened upon an artist’s dynamic pastels at a local exhibition, I knew I had discovered my medium.”
