CPS Demonstrations

Each year CPS presents educational opportunities open to the public at each of its three exhibitions, generally a pastel demonstration but sometimes a gallery tour with discussion of the pieces in the show. In addition we from time to time offer a demonstration by a workshop instructor the day before the start of a workshop.

  • Member Show 2016: demonstration by Jeff Ventola on March 26, 2016.
  • Purely Pastel Show 2016: triple demo by Christina Debarry (still life), Clayton Buchannan (figure), and Jane Penfield (landscape) on June 11, 2016.
  • Renaissance in Pastels Show 2016: gallery tour by Gigi Horr Liverant, PSA, CPS, and Laurel Friedmann, PSA, CPS, on October 23, 2016

The demonstration at the conclusion of the 2016 Member Show will be given by Jeff Ventola on March 26, 2016.

At our 2015 Annual Member Show at Gallery 53 in Meriden, CT, in March, the still-life demonstration was given by Patricia Tribastone, PSA-MP, IAPS-MC. During the 2015 Purely Pastel Juried Members’ Exhibition at Lyme Art Association in Lyme, CT in August, we were treated to a triple demo, with simultaneous presentations by Claudia Post (figure), Shauna Shane (animals) and Deborah Quinn-Munson (landscape). At the conclusion of our annual Renaissance in Pastel National Juried Exhibition at Uconn Stamford in December, the demonstration was given by Julie Friedman, PSA.

In addition in June 2015 we were fortunate to be able to present a demo by workshop teacher Tony Allain in Meriden, CT, which attracted a large audience.

A number of our demos in the past have been documented with a series of photos of the demonstration piece in progress. Please see the slide show presentations of the following demos:
